SHEILA BATTEN

Sheila Brown Batten is a vocalist for The Bonafides. She is also the Territory Sales Representative for The Life is Good Company, covering NC, SC, VA, and WV.

Her informal music training came from singing hymns by her mother’s side in church, so she attributes her love of harmonies to Momma Judy. Sheila was involved in church choirs and choral groups throughout middle school and high school. Piano has always been her favorite instrument and she was blessed to have wonderful instructors in her hometown of Sneads Ferry, NC. During 7th grade, she chose the clarinet as Dixon Middle and High Schools formed their first marching band.

Music took a backseat to education and career for many years but emerged at a bonfire with friends one night when she realized her husband, Danny, had put his guitar skills on hold as well. Musically talented neighbors were  very encouraging and made sure the Battens made music a priority. Each year, Sheila joins Centenary UMC Choir for their annual Christmas Cantata under the direction of Paul Saik, and refers to that as her “formal” training. Sheila is thrilled to be performing with The Bonafides and so grateful to the Olivers for sending their girls to college and “adopting” her into the family band.
